Ellie and her friends experienced extremely hard conflicts throughout there time in 'hell'. There main conflict was always with the soldiers that invaded there town, Wirawee and how they dealt with it. First there conflict was with themselves. Having to come to realization that they had no idea how there families were. Then having to pull it together and plan how to react appropriately. Second, there different ways of attacking the soldiers and sabotaging there plans. Finally having to make an extremely hard choice after one group member was injured.
In the last couple chapters Ellie, Fi, Lee, and Homer took a trip to one of the bridges leading into the town. They planned to blow up the bridge because it seemed to be one of the main ways that soldiers were travelling. As insane as the idea sounded they managed to make it work by distracting the soldiers on watch with a stampede of a near by cattle. They found a tractor and drove under the bridge, covered it with fuel and blew it up. Everything was fine until they returned to there meeting point with the others at Ellie's old house. Corrie had been shot in the back and now they faced another huge decision. Since a near by hospital was still running they decided that one group member would drive her there, Kevin. This meant leaving him completely vulnerable because of the dangers of being shot, tortured, and becoming imprisoned. The others returned to where they had made camp in 'hell' left wondering what would happen to there beloved friends.
Kevin was left with having to make a choice of either dropping off the car outside the hospital, setting an alarm and running for cover hoping they would find Corrie in the car or taking her himself right into the hospital risking everything. If it was someone you loved and considered family, would you run away or stay and take your chances?

Ellie is a happy, smart, and positive girl. She grew up on the countryside in Australia. When a camping trip turns into her and her friends fighting for there lives and families lives Ellie's survival skills are put to the ultimate test. With everything that's happened Ellie has always thought about logical ideas and when her friend Lee was shot she came up with the idea to come off as fierce to the soldiers and came to carry him in a huge tractor that actually managed to work.
She has mixed emotions about Lee and her other friend Homer. When in a dream she kisses Lee and in real life she travels hand in hand with Homer feeling safe Ellie is completely confused if what she is feeling is a crush or a result of being in shock from the invasion. When Lee confronts her she shrugs off her feelings as herself being delusional. With the shock and stress of the situation, Ellie has a breakdown resulting in her not eating, sleeping for three days straight, and she wouldn't talk to anyone.
If you were in Ellie's position how would you try and cope with the reality of the situation and at the same time try to be helpful?

Ellie is hoping to go on a camping trip with her friends into the'bush' as they say in Australia. They go for a course of five days roughing it and even some small romance developing in the group. One night a bunch of planes fly over there campsite. They have no lights but Ellie and her friends aren't very concerned. When they finally leave, they were driving back when they saw smoke clouds in the distance. This made them think because it wasn't bush fire season but again it wasn't very alarming.
Until they get to Ellie's house where they find her dogs outside on leashes, dead. She runs inside and no ones home as well there is no note. They go to some more houses and there is no sign of any people. Until they find a note saying they should stay in the bush till they know its safe to come out. There town has been invaded.
What if this was Bradford? Would you go into the bush and hide or would curiosity win you over and send you searching for answers?
